A bunch of pasta

Before we get started...

Before you, "get cooking" you're going to need to gather some supplies. Your local grocery store should have everything we need.

The Prep Work

We're going to need a sharp knife and a deep cast iron skillet like this one. Before you start chopping coat the surface of the skillet with some olive oil and set the heat to medium.

We'll tackle the onion first since it poses the largest physical threat. If you have contact lenses put them in now. This site offers an explanation of why they'll stop the pain.

  1. Cut the onion in half along the equator
  2. Make 1/8 inch onion slices starting from the top (round) part of the half and work toward the flat bottom.
  3. Repeat for the second half and then dice
  4. Cut the pepper in half the long way and similarly dice the two sections discarding the seeds and top
  5. Mince the garlic
  6. Start the water for the pasta per the box directions

It's Time to Cook

We're now ready to get this show on the road.

  1. Add the onion and garlic to the now pre-heated oil and brown.
  2. Add the mushrooms and pepper and toss
  3. Add the ground beef,toss, and brown
  4. As soon as the water for the pasta is boiling add the pasta to the water
  5. Add the sauce to the saute see why we needed the deep skillet?
  6. Mix the saute well and reduce heat to medium low. Cover if possible
  7. Strain pasta when finished and add to saute
  8. Add sugar, salt, oregano, and basil (you'll have to figure you what you like best)

Almost time to eat

I like to set the table now and let the pasta absorb all the goodness. That's it. Make yourself a plate and add some parmesan cheese. Enjoy.
